Jonas Brothers Nominated for EMA

The boys were nominated for Best Group. They are up against Green Day, Kings Of Leon, Black Eyed Peas and Tokio Hotel.

German glam rockers Tokio Hotel, American rockers Green Day and British singing sensation Leona Lewis have officially signed on to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 – promising to make it a truly international show! We’ll get to this exciting news in a moment, but first…

We’ve announced our nominees in all categories and Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga top the list with five nominations apiece. Go to the vote page now to see all the nominees and – most importantly – vote for who you think deserves to win!

And while you’re there, you’ll notice that all three of our announced performers have earned EMA nominations for their work this year. California punk-rock gods Green Day have been nominated for Best Live Act, Best Group and Best Rock. They exclusively premiered the first single (‘Know Your Enemy’) off their latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, on MTV earlier this year.

Leona Lewis, up for Best Female, will be releasing her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Echo, and its first single, ‘Happy,’ in November. Leona commented, “I’m thrilled to be able to perform at the EMAs and to share my new music with all my fans across Europe and the world. I’m excited it’s in Berlin – I have had such great support from everyone in Germany and I can’t wait to get there!”

And, of course, we couldn’t have a show in Germany without including a live performance from their favourite sons, now could we? Tokio Hotel, up for Best Group this year, have generated global acclaim; so much so that the quartet became the first German act to win a Moonman at the 2008 MTV VMAs as well as awards at Los Premios MTV Latin America and the MTV EMAs in 2008. Now they are ready to unleash their highly anticipated third studio album, Humanoid, worldwide.

We’ll be announcing more performers, presenters and our host in the upcoming weeks…so keep checking back right here
